LTC Library Literary Lunch – a success!

For the third year running,  LTC Library Literary Lunch was a wonderful success.  An intimate crowd were rewarded with:

  • A rollicking poem, written and performed by our very own principal, Julie Murkins: ‘The Little Girl who learned to run…fast!’.

  • On the spot soul music, inspired by Nina Simone’s riff from ‘Feeling Good’, performed by Year 12 band, ‘Dead Language’

A very big thank you to everyone who was part of our program this year, and thank you to those who came along to celebrate the spoken, written, and sung word.  We look forward to this happening again in 2018!

LTC Library Literary Lunch (Thursday 2 November)

Please join us TODAY for this annual event! Held the week before the LTC Arts Festival, this event attracts LTC staff, students and members of the Tuggeranong community.

Keys to Success R Unit (starts Thursday 20th July, 12:30pm): Give yourself a head start with the skills you need to get ahead at LTC.  Learn about researching effectively, discover tools that can make completing your assessment easier, discuss issues around digital citizenship, find out how to avoid plagiarism, and define the mystery that is Creative Commons. This R Unit is worth .2 points towards your Year 12 Certificate. Come and see Lori and Holly in the LTC Library if you’re interested.

LTC Library/Tuggeranong Library celebrates Harry Potter: 20th anniversary!

Monday 26 June marks the 20th anniversary of the appearance of ‘The Boy Who Lived’: Harry Potter!  To celebrate this grand occasion, Holly (teacher librarian at LTC) and Vicki (Libraries ACT) have worked on a joint display that is currently on show in our shared use library.

Take some time to pop in and marvel at the many different languages that Harry has been published in over the years and see if you can identify what those languages are!

LTC PHOTOGRAPHIC EXHIBITION – “In the Style of…” and “Levitation” – til April 7

LTC Photography students have been hard at work creating exciting new pieces for their assessment.
“In the Style of…” required students to reproduce a photo of interest.  Luke Marriott’s piece, “The mechanism of human facial expression” is one eye-catching example of this (the original is on the left)!

“Levitation” is another student exhibition running concurrently in the space, celebrating the art of levitation through photography.

This exhibition will run until the end of Term 1 (Friday April 7) upstairs in the LTC Library. Opening hours are 10-5:30pm Monday-Friday, 10am-4pm Saturdays, and 12-4pm Sundays.
